Canton Line Dancing Week.

A whole week for the dance that brings us together — four themed nights, every step taught, no partner and no experience needed. Denim Night (Mon) to learn the moves, a night out at M-Bar in Jackson (Tue), Bold & Bright (Wed), and the White Party finale (Fri). It's the first year of what we're making a Canton tradition — come be in the room for the very first one. Members free, $12 guest, $30 covers all three studio nights.

Worth knowing

Back-to-school is really your New Year.

Forget January. For most of us the year really resets the week the kids go back — summer's a free-for-all, and then all at once there's a schedule again. That structure snapping back is actually the opening: a fixed routine is the easiest thing in the world to hang one new habit on.

So while the schedule's resetting anyway, slide one thing into it that's yours. Not a whole self-care overhaul — one slot. Twenty minutes before the house wakes up, a real lunch break instead of eating at your desk, or the stretch right after work before you walk back into everybody's needs. Pick the pocket that's realistic for your day, and defend it. Then make it stick by tying it to something already fixed — "leave work, go straight there." You're not behind, and you don't have to earn it.
